Dianthus gratianopolitanus Firewitch was the 2006 perennial of the year. Firewitch flowers profusely and flowers tend to stand tall rather than bend over. Flowers can get four to six inches tall but the foliage usually stays around two inches. The blue leaves are are unusual and make a striking ground cover or a colorful additon to any container planting.
