Foothill Penstemon is one of our favorite no-care plants. Once established they require little if any water. We recommend watering the first year and then observing through the next spring and summer to see if plants are able to survive your area with no water like they do here. They do die back to the ground after setting seeds. Seed heads should be allowed to develop and drop so spring rains can sprout more of these amazingly beautiful plants.
