Growing & using Fringed Apple Scented Geranium
Fringed Apple Scented Geranium looks a lot like Nutmeg Scented Geranium but the fragrance is more of a sour apple candy.
There are several scented geraniums in this group of small leaved geraniums and, based on enough difference in the way they smell, we have narrowed down our two favorites to Fringed Apple and Nutmeg.
Both have young green leaves that turn gray as the plant goes through the summer. Both have these small apple blossom like flowers that cover the plant throughout most of the growing season.
They make perfect container plants because they are small enough to be happy in a two to five gallon pot, at least for a few years. All potted plants eventually get root bound and this will slow growth or kill the plant if not addressed.
Fringed Apple Scented Geranium stays evergreen in zone 8 most winters which tend to get down into the mid to low 20’s here.
