Obelisks are a wonderful way to add old world charm while expanding vertical growing space and adding focal points to otherwise unused spaces. Group them together and form a screen or add one next to the house to break up a boring wall. Set two opposite each other for an instant gateway. We like our obelisks filled with herbs like Winter Savory, English Thyme, Chives, Parsley or Basil (to name a few!). For color, we might add one of our fragrant Dianthus or Santa Barbara Daisy. An elegant look would be to have a column of ivy or sweet peas running up the Obelisk. Shoot, you could even use them to trellis a bean plant or squash, or maybe a tomato. We offer four distinct Vertical Planters. Some come with baskets or without. Some have a choice of finishes. All of our obelisks are pointed on the bottom for easy "planting" in the ground or in a container. Obelisks can be lined with our basket liners or sphagnum moss. The traditional liner for hanging baskets,
Sphagnum Moss gives baskets that old world charm. Soak the moss in a
bucket until pliable and then start at the top of the basket, folding the
moss over the rim on both sides. Then apply more moss to the inside of the
basket, making sure that the top side of the moss is facing out. Since Sphagnum Moss can potentially harbor the fungal disease causing Sporothrix schenckii spores, which enter the skin through open wounds, please be sure to wear gloves when using Sphagnum. 820 Cubic Inches (good for one large basket). $ 8.95 |

Sphagnum Moss Basket Liners make creating hanging baskets a snap. The liners are pressed flat and precut so they fit neatly into a circle. Made to fit a 16 inch round hanging baskets, the liner can be easily cut to fit smaller sizes. If you only have one or two baskets to line, this is an economical solution.
