This is not a retouched photo. Sea Holly is actually this blue. A small thistle, Sea Holly, does surprisingly well in the fairly shady spot where this photo was taken. Planted early in spring, this Sea Holly was in full bloom by early summer. Toward the end of the summer, the main stalk had died and was being replaced by a smaller side shoot. Picked before it starts to fade or fray, it dries well and makes a wonderful accent for wreaths or arrangements. The only mistake we made was not planting enough of these. Sea Holly makes a great addition
