Ajuga has tiny bluish purple flower spires that show up in early April. A great choice for woodland areas or sunny areas with plenty of water. The one above and to the right is located at the base of a well used water faucet. It gets sun most of the day which helps bring out the intense coloring. We like the way it softens the edge of this stone. It won't grow out much further onto the stone because the stone is dry and the stems need moist soil to root in. Give it moist soil and it just keeps spreading. |

The ground cover Santa Barbara Daisy commingles with Ajuga Burgundy Glow and both bloom at the same time. Add a McKana's Giant Columbine or two and some Chives for a spectacular spring show. Both Santa Barbara Daisy and Ajuga Burgundy Glow can take light foot traffic. Burgundy Glow Ajuga is a dense ground cover while Santa Barbara Daisy is taller and more airy. Both are spectacular. |
